Marita Pappa (b. 1988) is a Greek interdisciplinary artist. Drawing from critical theory, her research focuses on art and its critical function, and how artistic practices can assist in active citizenship and provide spaces for cultural resistance.

Her artistic practice explores the relationship between art, the public sphere, and radical democracy. Primarily working in installations, she interweaves contexts of poetry, politics and place through the use of sculpture, text, intervention, sound and moving image. Pappa uses everyday and ephemeral materials in order to create temporary environments where she seeks to find the intimate in the political and the ambiguous terrain between private and public, aesthetics and politics.

Her sculptural installations often refer to historical events with a particular interest in Greek culture and history. Through the process of collecting references and imagery from popular media and philosophy, Pappa aims to re-activate the archives and offer new narratives in an effort to address themes such as civil disobedience, state power and memory.
